The method to my madness….

Psych! You think I know why I do what I do?! What I do know is that I have some interesting travel tips/tricks that may or may not be useful to you. If they are, great! I’d love to hear about it.

First things first, you need to be strategic with the clothes you’re bringing – geez, I’ve been out of work since May 1st and I’m still using the lingo. For shame… may I present:

Exhibit A

18 articles of clothing that I have figured out is 51 “different” outfits if you mix and match them. Yes, you may see my denim shorts with 9 different shirts but those count as different outfits. Also, I was struggling with how the heck I’m going to survive for 3+ months with just a few pieces of clothing. So knowing that there is VARIETY in what I’m bringing is oddly comforting. I hate variety. I’m a creature of habit.

Exhibit B

Roll your clothes! Don’t fold…this one is already a pretty standard packing technique, however, the trick is to roll the clothes as tight as you can. I usually do it haphazardly but this tight rolling really saves precious space in my already-too-small-carry-on.

Exhibit C

Multi-functional and/or tiny versions of equipment. For this trip, I purchased a luggage scale/flashlight/powerbank 3-in-1 combo. I like that I can check the weight of my bags when jumping on and off various modes of transportation – planes, trains, automobiles, UFOs, who knows what I’ll find out there. I also purchased a tiny keyboard that folds up really nicely. It fits in really well with my iPad Mini…you get the gist. Finally, I have an adapter to use in various countries around the world that has 2 USB ports so I don’t need to find extra outlets to charge most of my devices. I put the FUN in functional!

And all that fits into these 2 bags. Yep, that’s ALL I’m bringing for this “Part One of My World Tour”, aka “North of the Equator”, aka “Summer #1”!…I leave in 6 days so keep following along. Jai yen yen!
