Vancouver: A strange but magical place indeed (Day 2)

First off, the hostel has a bar. I know this because I’ve been to this bar DAILY since it’s so cheap to drink here. Happy hour beer is $3.20 roughly for craft beer. Wow! Good deal indeed.

Secondly, I need to learn conversions ASAP. I was using the dating app Bumble while here – you never know, someone may want to give me a green card and given the state of America lately, would it be so terrible to be something else?! Canadian is nice but I think I’m too mean to be Canadian. These people are all so freaking nice. Dating in a foreign country that uses a different system for measuring things, people, beer is confusing. Is 1.2 KM too far away? How tall is 5’10” in meters?!

Walked myself to Granville Island today. Apparently you can’t just walk across the bridge and down to the island; you have to walk across to an end-point and then backtrack once off the bridge. That was good to burn some calories but tiresome as it’s a million degrees in Canada. I think that’s how 80 degrees in Fahrenheit translates to Celsius. The island is small but quaint. I should have bought some fresh fruit from the lady in picture #3.

After coming back to the hostel to regroup, I realized my room is too depressing to be in during the day. So I found a threading place that was 3 metro stops away and lots of walking but now my eyebrows are on fleek (in case I meet a dreamy Canadian who’s offering up Green cards) 😉 You can’t be too prepared. Am I right?! I am now sitting at the hostel bar drinking a $3.20 beer and rocking out to some awesome jams of old skool songs remixed. Not a bad life!

First Universe Smiles of the trip: I was getting ready to put some money into the ticket machine for the metro and a woman came up to me and asked if I was traveling in zone 1 (and I was because the threading place was 3 stops away). She handed me her ticket because it was still good so I rode for free to pay $22 CAD for eyebrow threading which is $16.57 USD (or 1.5X what I pay in San Diego).

Tomorrow is the haunted walking tour and I’m super excited about that. Until then, tame night at the hostel. I think.
