Another death march day…isn’t this “vacation?”

Today I walked over 4 miles (round trip) to head to Stanley Park. I’m really glad there is a break in the weather but it’s still so hot in Vancouver. I’m almost looking forward to chilly Toronto and Dublin weather! Stanley Park is a large park that I barely scratched the surface of…I maybe saw <5% of it! The scenery is just amazing even when walking down the street.

This building looked so pretty this morning and I have no idea what it could be – it could house Canadian criminals for all I know. Except in Canada, they’d probably be guilty of jaywalking or something benign.

Some more photos from actually inside Stanley Park.

I went to the totem poles that were on the map. I have no idea of their significance but lots of tour buses were there so maybe I should read up on them. They’re really old. You can read all about them here.

After the totem poles, I found myself at the Vancouver aquarium. I have done numerous aquariums along the Pacific Ocean but I needed a break from the heat – and apparently so did a lot of Vancouver school kids. Grrrrrrr. One thing I’ve never seen before is a person in the jelly fish tank sending dead jelly fish up through a vacuum (luckily, the kids around had no clue as the person in the tank was waving to them while ushering away dead jellies). “Dead jellies”, that sounds like a cool band name. If only I knew how to be a rockstar.

Tonight I went on a walking ghost tour in the Gastown area of Vancouver. I didn’t get any heeby-jeebies BUT, random/creepy fact…in researching other haunted areas of Vancouver, I discovered that the building I found so intriguing at the top of this post is indeed a hotel that is haunted!! Follow the link for all of Vancouver’s haunted places (most of these were on the walking tour I did). Shoot, I could have saved $20 and done my own haunted tour. New calling in life?!
