I think I started to feel bad on the train; wait, I know I started to feel bad because in my 1-sec a day project, I have video of me looking miserable and not feeling well. It really hit me Wednesday with the severe weather shifts in Toronto – one minute I’m sweating bullets and the next I’m freezing. Jacket goes off and goes back on. Very temperamental – the weather, not me.
After returning from dinner with my friend Vicky, I crawled into bed only to stay there all day Thursday. Literally did nothing but shower and put on fresh pajamas. Miko (the B&B owner) felt really bad for me. He kept asking me if I had eaten anything, he said I could have anything in the fridge and even did a load of laundry for me! He is such a kind man and I could tell he just wanted me to get better for the European part of my trip.
Fun things you learn about Canada when sick:
- They don’t know what Airborne is. Instead they have some equivalent dissolving tablets. No berry flavor 😦
- Canadian tv is limited. They re-air programs over and over again.
- Zicam = FX-Cold
Fun things you learn about Canada when not sick:
- The “restroom” is referred to as the “washroom.”
- Their dollar coin is called a looney and the 2 dollar coin is called a tooney. I think they watch too much Bugs Bunny here.
Today, I decided to brave the heat wave…yes, there is a heat wave in Toronto. Apparently 82 degrees is deadly to Canadians. There are cooling stations set up around the city. And yes, it was pretty damn hot walking around today. But I think it help me sweat out my germs. I don’t sound so great but I feel much better. I can’t meet an Irish lad with a runny nose and congested voice. So not the look I’m going for.
I walked to the Toronto sign (I guess most major cities have them..wonder where the San Diego one is).

Then I walked to the CN Tower and went all the way to the top.

I even asked someone to take my picture!

And finally, a selfie/footie over the glass floor.

I am now at the Toronto airport waiting for my flight to Dublin (1 hour layover in Iceland). There are people more nervous than I – and I didn’t even take a Xanax. I must be changing my mindset or I really don’t give a f#%^!!
