An original Amy Gonzales quote that the guys at Warpig (a brewery with American barbecue and American brewing twist) had a good chuckle at!
Today started off with a canal boat tour in almost 100 degree weather, no shade. And I’m only slightly exaggerating. I asked someone to take my picture. I was already burning.
The views from the boat were just stunning and it was an absolutely gorgeous day. I see now why the Danish people are so happy — that feeling of just being at peace on the water. I need to find friends with a boat. I loved being on the water! I am a Pisces after all.

After the canal tour, I was close to the parliament building. Or a palace. It’s all confusing as the walking tour guide called it a parliament building but the signs all said Christiansborg Palace. Either way, there was a 30 minute wait in a queue to go up to the Tower (there I go dropping European terms like I live here or something). But the views from there were to die for – and you can even see Sweden which I thought was an added bonus. I couldn’t decide which picture came out better so I’m putting all 4 sides of the tower in. You be the judge!

Next came an adventure for lunch. I found this place called “WarPigs” that sold American BBQ along with beer collaborated with an American brewery (I’m still American after all). I thought to myself, I need to check this place out. So I GoogleMapped myself there and ended up in the wrong part of town. I’m fairly certain I saw a drug deal going down. But nonetheless, you persevere for good beer. Sidenote, Mac and cheese, coleslaw, and baked beans are inherently different wherever you find yourself.
After allowing myself only one beer – again, it’s a million degrees outside – I walked back to the hostel to lay down for a bit. I was dying from the heat. When I awoke, I had a nice chat with my roommate. She’s German and traveling to Sweden. She was impressed by my small luggage (“all that for 3 months??”) and my cool little laundry gadgets (hello impulsive-Amazon-stretchable-clothesline buy). She even took pictures of them so she could find them online later! Seriously, someone needs to pay me to do this for a living. I’m apparently really good at traveling and making friends!
I now find myself at Mikkeller Brewery (the original one) and it is significant because there is a brewery in San Diego but this is the original. You can even buy cans from this location that have been brewed in San Diego. It all comes full circle. Maybe that should be a theme of my next adventure – go to the original breweries of beer I like.
