I’ve seen a lot this trip – luckily for me, the blog helps remind me of all the fun and interesting things I’ve seen and done. Today is my last full day in Brussels because tomorrow I’m taking the train (yay! No flying for the next week or so) to Bruges where I’ll be spending a few days and meeting up with Steffie (a friend I made when I traveled to Portugal in 2016 on my 2nd official solo adventure). She’s driving us to Gent (also in Belgium) so I think it will round out my time in Belgium. It’s been pretty relaxing and not so full of touristy things – to be honest, I’m so tired of the tourists (yes, this includes me!). They are everywhere but I forget this is summer and the time when most people have breaks from school. Next time I go through a 1/3 life crisis, I might plan it around Europe’s off season.
Since I did absolutely NOTHING yesterday, I don’t even know what I did besides eat mussels, I thought today I should make an attempt to see something else besides the Grand Place (for the 6th time) or the Pissing Mannequin again [side note: he still wasn’t wearing clothes and I can only chuckle that maybe it’s too hot outside for even a statue to wear clothing. Wish I could do the same ;)] I forced myself to go to Brussels’ version of Norte Dame.

It was very gothic and as I went inside, I realized this might actually be the first church I’ve gone to on this trip. I remember in Dublin a Canadian guy asked me why I would spend 3 months in Europe… “looking at churches gets old.” I politely told him that he didn’t know me at all and that I would do Europe in the way I see fit. And this trip has been all about that. Never mind that housekeeping came to my room 2 days in a row where I was siesta-ing. But do I care? Heck no, it’s damn hot outside and I can afford to take breaks whenever I want.
On to Bruges next then another train adventure to Country #19. I can’t believe I’m crossing so much off my list and there’s still an entire world to go explore. Hope you’re all enjoying the blog and adventuring with me!!
