Prague is beyond words spectacular!

Now I see why everyone falls in love with this city. The buildings are all old-time charm and the people I’ve interacted with have all been really kind.

  • ¿Donde eres? Said a Spanish speaking tour guide offering me a walking tour. He was cute and smiled nicely.
  • Where are you from? You need to come back to Prague. The man at the tower on Charles bridge. He wanted to make sure I saw the original wood rafters at the top of the tower.
  • Where you from lady? Prague is the heart of Europe. You need to come back to Prague.
  • Everyone is extremely nice and not speaking Czech has not been a problem for me at all. Even if they don’t speak English, still not an issue.
  • Today I went to the Old Town square which is not as impressive as The Grand Place in Brussels but still had a good vibe.
  • From there, I walked around without much of a plan except to enjoy getting lost. My mom once told me I couldn’t get lost on planet earth. Now I secretly tell myself that if I start to have doubts about going in the right direction. I saw a man along the river with a dog begging for change. I have a soft spot for people on the streets with animals and usually give them whatever coins I have. The man lucked out today – this entire time I thought all the coins were just cents but they are in fact full “dollars.” Oops. He clearly needs it more than I do so I’m glad they went to him instead of sitting as souvenirs when I get home. An expensive lesson indeed but humbled to have learned it.
  • The bridge was nice and cool with vendors and lots of tourists. Someone in a wedding dress was even doing a photo shoot. Beautiful view today from along the waterside.
  • From the bridge, there is a tiny entrance to the tower where you can get panoramic views of the city. For the equivalent of ~$4.50, you climb a lot of stairs but the view is stunning. Looks almost like the Duomo in Florence to me. Except the Duomo is much grander.
  • Tonight I signed up for a Ghosts and Legends walking door. Clouds have rolled in along with random raindrops but the weather reports all say it will still be 80degrees at 9p when my tour starts. And tomorrow is a day tour to Kutna Hora. You’ll want to see the blog post on that one because I’m going to a church decorated with human skeletons!
