“I’m sorry, I didn’t see your language.”

I think that was the Austrian version of flirting. While checking out at the grocery store, the clerk gave me the total in German/Austrian (I’m not sure what language is spoken here as “hello” is clearly not “hallo”). I asked him to repeat the total again and he then says, “I’m sorry, I didn’t see your language.” Which is actually kind of a cute thing to say even if you can’t really see someone’s language. He told me to have a nice day and I said the same to him and he told me he would try. And that ladies and gentlemen, is about as awkward you can get in a grocery store.

Today I went to an art museum. I think it may have been the first art museum I’ve been to on this trip? I really don’t like art museums. I’m more of a natural history kind of person but nonetheless, I had time to kill and decided to go to the Leopold Museum. No shame in my game but I only knew of Klimt from the famous work of art (The Kiss) and I had never heard of Schiele before.

Whereas Klimt focused on the female body, Schiele focused on the male one. His self portraits are dark and almost look disfigured – even though photographs of him show a normal looking dude. My favorite part of the msueum was an exhibit on a photographer named D’Orsay. The famous line is that a client said, “I know you made me look beautiful but make me more beautiful”…. or something like that. I think I tell my mom that every time she photoshops a picture of me. Hahahaha.

After the museum, I walked towards the palace and found some other museums I may or may not go to tomorrow. I have one more day before Danielle and I meet up but I have to be domestic and do some laundry. And I feel like taking it easy; I have a feeling she will want to be on the move a lot.

For now, it looks as though it may start raining in Vienna so I’m sitting tight.
