Bratislava – only 1 day

Both of us did not sleep well last night. First, it was too hot and then too cold. Most places in Europe do not use a top sheet. Only a comforter which is why we were hot and cold and full of restless sleep last night. I told Danielle we could put the a/c colder and use the comforters if we got cold tonight.

We did the BeFree Walking tour which is part of a unique concept in Europe. The tours are free and you pay at the end only what you think it was worth. The guides work on tips only and they are some of the most passionate people I’ve seen when it comes to history.

On today’s tour, we had Teacher’s Pet and not many other characters from our top 10 list. I was very surprised! We met a nice kid (Luke) from the US who ended up going with us to lunch and to the castle.

Highlights from the tour include:

St Michael’s Gate

The Blue Church

And the ugliest communist hotel you’ve ever seen!

As I said before, Luke, Danielle and myself climbed up to the castle or fortress and were greeted with amazing views. We even saw 3 countries from up there: Slovakia, Hungary and Austria.

We’re back at the hotel now relaxing as Bratislava is most definitely a place you can do in one day. Tomorrow we leave for Country #23!!
