Toilets don’t flush counterclockwise…this disappoints me more than it should

Well hello dear Blog Audience, you the Reader! Welcome back. As you can see, I’m posting which means….I’m back on my adventures!!! The 3 week hiatus was nice (a little too long and I recommend a shorter vacation from your vacation – your wallet will thank you). I have now landed in Sydney, Australia after 15 hours of flight time (Country #26 for those keeping track). How I survived, I cannot tell you, but I did. I think the whole make/break of this long ass flight was the fact that I forced myself to sleep, even skipping out on gelato which I heard was amazing from people waiting at baggage claim. Oh well, there will always be gelato and I don’t feel jet lagged or tired one bit. Flying past the International Date Line was rad.

Sydney is cooooold. And I’m a Californian so a high of 60 degrees Fahrenheit is otherworldly to me. Like how do people survive below 60 deg? My teeth are chattering and I’m sort of admonishing myself because I only brought 1.75 worths of pants (for those not good at math, that’s one pair of jeans and 1 pair of workout capris). I wore the capris on the plane so they are out of commission until I can locate my febreeze and make them at least smell clean. I’m a traveler, we don’t typically care how we look. Those more humane of us do care about how we smell.

And I’m really disappointed I have not seen a toilet run counterclockwise yet. I tried at the airport, at the bar I hung out at while my room was being readied and at the B&B I’m staying at. I’m beginning to think this is one big conspiracy to get people to come to Australia:)

What I can tell you is that there’s a lot more to Sydney than I thought but trekking out in the rain makes me worried. I seem to always get sick after being in cold/rainy spaces (hello Amsterdam)… So I bought supplies:

And I don’t actually need Tiger Balm but you can’t find it in the US and when in Oz, you buy things you can’t find at home. And I don’t actually need the wine either but it has 2 effects for my health: 1) keeping me warm and 2) everyone knows alcohol kills germs.

Ghost shows are on the tv in Australia and those are always my favorite things to watch. I also keep hearing whistling noises out my window and I haven’t convinced myself they aren’t real. And for the record, my shades are drawn. Ghosts in Sydney??!
