Last night, my roommate and I decided to head down to the free beer at 8p. Her name is Sophie and she’s a very sweet German girl who called me “inspirational” after I told her I danced by myself the night before. Inspiring people is a pretty good feeling and I think she was grateful I went with her to the bar. I gave her some solid advice: “you’ll never see these people again. Who cares if they think you’re weird?” Words, I myself, live by daily on my travels. I even convinced her to go to an Irish pub with me but we didn’t meet any lads. And the place was dead so we headed back towards the hostel and found a bar with great dancing music! Sophie got her wish, they played “Mamma Mia!” And now that song has been stuck in my head all morning.
Today I decided I HAVE to find warmer clothes for New Zealand. It’s not even a matter of want, it’s a matter of life and death. I figured I would buy leggings, another long sleeved shirt and a tank top for layering. And I figured H&M would be the cheapest option so I won’t feel bad ditching those clothes when I head to warmer weather. For about $36 USD, I was able to buy all the things on my list. That’s a steal if I do say so myself. Everything is truly so expensive in Australia and I’m told New Zealand is much more expensive.
The Queen St. Mall is nice and artsy.

After my successful mission, I had one tourist spot to check out before walking back to the hostel. This time, I was more prepared for the hot weather and loaded up on Gatorade and water before heading to South Bank. It was there that I took the “Brisbane” picture and got this nice picture of the Ferris wheel.

And now, I’m back at the hostel hanging out in the lobby and holding my breath. The place needs a good squirt of air freshener because traveler people are smelly y’all. Well not all of us, but a good majority are. Tomorrow is a trip to Lone Pine, a koala sanctuary and I may even get to take a picture with one! Definitely crossing that “see a koala in Australia” off of my list!
