I meant to write this entry Monday during a work break but the preceding Sunday night + lots of sun caused a Migraine Monday. Before the pain was too unbearable, I somehow managed to attempt running on the beach (again) but the sand is too soft and I’m beginning to get those runners’ calves. The hills around my neighborhood don’t seem so terrible after trying to run on quicksand. Took the below picture on my morning “run.”

Sunday was spent just like the previous weekend day… lounging at the pool, reading, drinking cool beers in the warm sun and enjoying plan-less days. This Sunday was an exception because Maye’s friends (Lori, Nancy & Bonnie) invited us to have “a pail of Caesars on the beach.” The first time I ever tried a Caesar was in Dublin for Canada Day. I mean, I spent almost 2 full weeks in Canada and I still had never heard of this drink. My mom, on the other hand, is less knowledgeable on Canadian things so she thought we were going to eat Caesar salad with Maye and her friends. She’s go so much to learn about the world still, eh?!
Caesar’s on the beach turned into power wishing on the new moon on Maye’s patio with wine, because wine not? I have recently started getting into lunology (very similar to astrology) and on specific days/times, wishes you make to the Universe are more likely to come true. So we all sat around and made our secret intentions for the new Moon in Aries. I have a feeling this will be a good year for me! Maye’s friends are all so nice and they have made my Mom and I feel right at home.
As for Monday, the sun, the booze and whatever else I did on Sunday caused for one sick Amy. I managed to call into 1 work meeting and received a text from a coworker that she could hear “parrots” in the background whenever I spoke during the meeting. And when I ran inside to avoid the birds, my Mom was speaking Spanish to the washing machine repair man. Living in Southern California, it wouldn’t be that unusual to hear Spanish in the background, but those birds almost outed me to work!! Took some migraine medicine and slept almost the whole day. When I felt a little better, my mom made me a quesadilla & afterwards we walked along the water to get some exercise.

To cap off the day, we sat on Maye’s patio and watched the horses go by. The sky changes so many colors and last night it was pink again. The photos never do it justice. You just need to come see it for yourself.
