Yesterday (Wednesday) we had to check out of our AirBnb by 10am, so we packed up the car and headed from Boise to Riverton, Utah. It was an uneventful drive and David was getting tired of seeing the same landscape over and over again. So we stopped quite a few times to top off the gas tank and stretch our eyes. Don’t stop at this yellow building off the 84 East – the man behind the counter wasn’t about friendly customer service. He decided instead to focus on gas price gouging.

One of our stops was in Glenn’s Ferry, Idaho. It was the only stop with the promise of food so we thought, let’s go see what Glenn has in store for us. A quick internet search told us the one dog-friendly option was Fudge Factory Grill & Ice Cream. At least ice cream is always an acceptable meal. We split a sandwich called the Huckleberry Joe (PSA, anything with huckleberry is also an acceptable meal when in Idaho) and it was amazing. They take the sweetness of huckleberries & make a sauce for ground meat – very sloppy, very joe-like and very tasty.

Another stop – it was chilly

We made it to Riverton, Utah around 4:15p and checked into our AirBnB. It’s a cute little studio cabin next to a canal and even has a kickass 2 person bath tub spa. After making sure the cabin was Blue-proof, we left him at “home” and headed to a steakhouse for an early bird dinner at Toro Steak & Cocktails. David has been craving steak the entire trip and Toro did not disappoint. I ordered a filet mignon with baked potato and sautéed bell peppers. David had a ribeye. What was left on our plates were very small morsels to bring back to Blue; that dog is sure lucky because he had leftover filet mignon for breakfast today! What can I say, this childless dog lady gives only the best for her boy.

Remembering that we’re in Utah, we stopped at the DABS store to purchase alcohol because that seems to be the only thing we need to survive the quiet of UT. It’s a great state and I don’t get the sense there are a lot of Republicans around since we haven’t seen any cars with ridiculous anti-Biden stickers but we’ve kept a low profile. You’re probably wondering why we chose to come back home through Utah. I’m beginning to wonder that myself. But in all honesty, the landscape and scenery was a big factor in our trip planning. So for now, we’re in Riverton for 2 whole days and just taking it easy, which also includes wine and trips to the sad, brown DABS building.

Fueled up, we set out for Bear Canyon Suspension Bridge – an easy 1.5 mile loop that includes views of mountains and the community below.

I think tomorrow we’ll drive up to Park City so we can check out an old silver mining town. But until then, we’re settled back in our studio cabin for the night, sipping on some wine and enjoying being together. I can’t speak for David, but I am having a blast on this road trip and all the adventures we’re having. We’ve seen volcano lakes, met up with family, have acclimated Blue to being in the car and caught some amazing sunsets!
