I drove on the wrong side of the road!

Another addition to the First Time [insert action] List: driving on the wrong side of the road or to the Irish people, driving regularly, on the left side of the road.

Leaving Tara’s house, we headed towards Rock of Cashel. Not sure what we’d be seeing, and since mom read the guidebook, we agreed. It was another ruin-ous structure with some frescos that sadly haven’t survived the test of time. Just like me/us — on the struggle bus for sure. We’re on the last legs of our trip, sick with head congestion and wanting to get home, especially David who is getting progressively sicker. Whenever someone is sick, I end up having to drive in a foreign country. Once in Mexico & now in Ireland.

The VRBO we rented in Cork was a penthouse with a beautiful view. No A/C which bothered us because we might have slight fevers. At least it had WiFi. The three of us decided we had to take the drive to Cliffs of Moher even though it added 4 hours of driving to our day, the beauty of nature makes it all worth it. Leaving Cork, I drove for the first 1.5 hours so David could rest up and take some cold/allergy medicine.

Driving on the left hand side of the road is very confusing but I’m sure I’d get used to it pretty quickly. Mom was grateful that I got behind the wheel because David’s driving in the USA similarly makes us nervous as his driving in Ireland. Only once did we end up on the wrong side of the road and it was in front of 20 cars. At least David was driving that time!

Lunch on the road involved a rest stop along the freeway. Here’s our Suitcase Charcuterie meal, including canned beer.

We enjoyed a nice Italian dinner at the restaurant and have a long journey back to San Diego. For now, the passports will get put away but the travel bug has been awakened. Let’s go!
