I am comprometida. We are comprometidos.

I was extremely cruda on Sunday after celebrating our engagement Saturday night. Lots of love has been pouring in from all over the world and when I asked my cousin for a special celebratory “floral arrangement” (ahem, marijuana), he made a stop to come congratulate us in person. He taught me some new words, like comprometida (engaged), which has been useful in explaining how David & I are now connected.

The following morning, we met Paul and his family (wife Ana, daughter Catalina) out for breakfast at Hotel Posado Terranova. As we stood outside the restaurant waiting for them to arrive, I laughed at the sight of mi Catalina with her face pressed against the backseat window. She is hilarious! The chorizo, potato and egg dish was yummy! And now I have another restaurant to add to my list of comida (food) places. But watch out for the salsa; it sneaks up on you.

After breakfast, I had to get back to work so we drove back to the condo. There may, or may not have been a stop at a local dispensario that asked for no identification and thus, never happened. Ok, most likely didn’t happen. At the very least, it is untraceable. A “universe smile,” in the form of running into Maria and telling her that we were comprometidos was a wonderful start to my trip. She told David he was lucky and that she knows he is an amazing man. I’m extremely blessed.

While I was working, David went to Party Cabo for new guitar strings. Adding in an impromptu stop at Costco, he grilled up steaks for dinner. And we both learned that A1 sauce is something entirely different in Mexico.

Tuesday was another work day for me but I promised David that we would go downtown for souvenir shopping. I’m now having to think about souvenirs for grandkids. Yes, GRANDKIDS. And when souvenir shopping, you MUST stop at Karina’s store behind the church. And this time, the shop was open. Seeing her was another high point of my trip so far. Watching David enjoy this place I love has been magical and I wish everyone could feel this.

After dinner at Habaneros (we both highly recommend the risotto dishes), we went in search of a regional bottle of wine to take home. We landed at Cabo Liquor & Wine where a few of the owner’s friends were socializing. We got to tell them our good news of being comprometidos. David is starting to fall in love with My Cabo.
