“Yes Maria, I do speak Spanish now.”

Since coming back from Todos Santos, David had lined up 2 fishing charters for his last week here. He caught tons of fish and I still don’t care for the taste of it much. But his happiness at getting out on the water was worth it.

I had my first massage with Magic Hands Maria! For $44 USD, you get an hour massage and she comes right to the condo. Ahhhhh-mazing!!!! After our massages, we walked to Zippers to try some BBQ ribs and enjoy the view.

It’s sad to write this, but the experience at Zippers was one of the worst ones I’ve had in Mexico. There aren’t a lot. The staff was rude and looked annoyed that we even wanted to order food, let alone order a margarita. When we asked for the check, it took 3 people to come up with the bill. And as soon as we started taking money out, the waiter was hovering over us. Like dude, pay attention during our meal. We left without tipping – something I rarely do. But if the majority of the staff doesn’t care, why should I??!

Boycotting Zippers.

Thursday, we sat out at the pool after work. A woman started talking to us and she was loud and off. Always trust your vibes. She invited us to her rental for a happy hour before we headed downtown and we went. But the vibe was off and she ignored us the whole time. We ditched their party and made sure to stay hidden around downtown so she wouldn’t find us. Like I said; the vibe was off.

Dinner at Sage restaurant was pretty forgettable. We were unimpressed with all dishes and laughed that the best dish was the free Amuse-bouche Chef sent over. One stop at Cabo liquor & wines for a bottle of red and then we were on our way back home.

Today (Saturday) was the Farmers Market (or the Gringo Market as Mom calls it) and also David’s last full day in Cabo. Tomorrow he goes home and my Mom arrives for her 2 weeks stay. I feel like a landlady of sorts. Security Guard Maria (the one who christened me “Oxxo”) is sad David is leaving. I think she has a little crush on him. All the Mexican girls do!! She started saying a lot of goodbye in Spanish and I was translating for him. She laughed when she realized I can finally speak Spanish!

  1. You’re having some interesting adventures on this trip! Noted about Zippers – and I’m right there with you with no tip – instead they get a tip of the day! Cool that David caught a lot of fish, Paul would be so in to do that too! Awesome that your Spanish is getting better, I really need to work on mine!
