We left Fresno on Saturday morning for Klamath Falls, Oregon & reached our lake view Airbnb around 5p that evening. But not without a stop in Weed, CA, and yes, we got matching t-shirts.

We tried to eat at a steak/oyster place in Klamath but it was hovering around 50 degrees and the “dog-friendly patio” was 2 tables outside the front of the restaurant with no heaters. Having a dog on the trip complicates things a bit as we have to find places that allow Blue to be there. A quick google search took us to a brewery (almost always a dog-friendly establishment) with 3 food trucks on-site. David ordered BBQ ribs and they were phenomenal. Blue got chicken strips that were pretty good also. Well he didn’t order them, but if he could, he would have. After dinner we went to a park and Blue got to try out the slides. He’s having a blast learning to be off leash & having lots of open space to play catch!
For Day 3, we got up at 5:40a to drive to Crater Lake before heading to Boise. We must be hitting fall since there was snow on the ground and the car thermometer read 41 degrees – it seems to me that we are headed away from the heat. I think we may have done Crater Lake in the fastest time possible and left for Boise around 9a.

We reached Boise around 5p and went over to my cousin [Luda]Chris’ house to meet the rest of his crew for tacos at 7:30p. I had visited Luda exactly 5 years ago (August 2019) and I wanted to introduce David to my favorite cousin. So we built this whole roadtrip around visiting Idaho & exploring more of the northwest. So far, Oregon (aka “California-lite”) seems pretty cool. Idaho is beautiful, but not for me. Too many Chump signs and not enough Kamala ones. Wake up Idaho, the future is female.
