After escaping/leaving super early from Kathy Bates’ place, we headed to North Saanich, another Lake [Cowichan] town that closes at 5pm, just like every other mountain town. Since we couldn’t check in until 3pm, we decided to have a nice breakfast at Floyd’s Diner and explore the harbor & shop around Victoria.

Our next destination was another BnB, this time run by Ross and his Wife who shall remain nameless because I introduced myself to her and was met with awkward talk and no first name. I guess in Canada and if you are a female owner/operator of a BnB, then you have to just be awkward and weird. By the time we settled in, I felt like staying in so David went exploring on his own. Mountain towns seem to close at 5pm but the forced slow down was welcome.
The next morning, we took the ferry back and this time I stayed in the car the whole time reading and crocheting; yes, I brought some supplies so I could finish a blanket I’m working on. With plenty of time to kill before checking into an airport near the hotel, we stopped in Stevenson, an old canning town. The museum offered free admission that day and was an interesting walk back in time. But I could do without the decades old scales lining the walls and ceilings that made me think, “I really hope fish junk doesn’t fall on me.”

Our flight home was uneventful, and that’s the kind of travel I like. Our new driver friend Vaht picked us up from LAX and we were reunited with Blue by 6pm. Canada is really nice and you can tell how everyone cares about each other. Now that we’ve explored some of the West Coast, I wouldn’t mind going back to explore some more.
