Yesterday marked the 10th and 11th plane rides I’ve taken on this journey. I think that’s probably even more than some people may have taken in a lifetime. I’m a self-certified pro in plane travel and still quite a novice when it comes to trains. Even though I’ve never had any real issues on the train. Speaking of trips, I don’t think the Universe likes that I leave home. Something usually happens when I travel abroad. Allow me to highlight just a few terrible things that have happened to me:
- 2015: My cell died in Brazil. It got a humidity bubble and started sending weird text messages like it was possessed. That was early on in my travels so I’m glad Danielle was with me because we used her work phone a lot. I don’t think I’m supposed to broadcast that so let’s leave it between ourselves.
-
- Also in 2015, the night before I leave for South America, a woman crashes into my parked car and totals it. I left the country with no vehicle and returned with only 3 days to find another before car insurance stopped paying for a rental. Did I mention that I also didn’t have a cell phone? I felt 16 years old again with my Dad driving me around and letting me borrow his phone to make calls.
- 2016: My refrigerator goes out early on during a 3-week jaunt to Spain and Portugal. And yes I just said 3 weeks is a jaunt…compared to 3 months, that was kids’ stuff. My poor parents were first to get to my condo and first to clean up the biohazard mess.
- 2018: My a/c went down in my condo while I was gone and my Mom had to get a friend to drive down to San Diego to fix it for me. Meanwhile, I’m bragging to all the Europeans that I have central a/c. I think the Universe is just being spiteful on this one.
- Today, I dropped my cell phone into the toilet. I quickly pulled it out (and for some odd reason the toilet water is really low in Austria. And yes, I just dropped that I was in Salzburg, Austria but forcing you to read everything before that) and wiped it off. And it seemed fine, nothing weird until I started using it and the screen went pitch black. Well almost pitch black, I could kind of make out some apps.

Good Luck Amy on the rest of your trip. Life is an adventure. Imagine what people did years ago before iPods and phones? Aunt Issa
